Description

One of the last areas free of public property in San Donato Milanese, the most important town of the southern edge of Milan, becomes the place where Spam S.p.a and the municipality project the creation of a Civic centre for the city.

Bellini’s project proposal tends to leave a strongly characterised mark in comparison with the fragmentation of the more immediate context: a large rectangular public space lined with trees and defined by arcades and buildings with arcades, with the new civic centre in the centre of the space diagonally crossed by a glass tunnel. The design of the green area underlines the contrast between the diagonal profile of the tunnel and the orthogonality of the main open space.
