Description

Among the many exhibitions at the Triennale in Milan on themes about Design, Bellini was called to illustrate, as a part of a larger exhibition, the contribution of the brand “Cassina”, a historic furniture producer founded in Brianza in 1927.

For the purposes of the show, the Triennale offers a glass cubic volume to outfit.

The Milanese architect went straight to the point, seeing in the brilliant “return” to the models of 1928 by Le Corbusier made by Cassina starting in 1964 the beginning of Cassina’s “explosion” in Italy and throughout the world.

An infinite multiplication of white LCS s inside the cube lined with mirrors transformed the concept into architecture. Bellini’s sophisticated idea about Cassina was transformed into a clear and penetrating analysis of the paradoxical mechanisms of production – artistic and otherwise – in the 20th century: “The anomaly of the return almost half a century later of a ‘fossil’ project that would become the all-time greatest success of a furniture company which moreover for that project did not have to suffer through the incubationand generation of the idea”.
