Only a chair with strong charisma has the capacity to develop into a complete family with more than 500,000 pieces sold to date, the Cab chair designed by Mario Bellini for Cassina in 1977 is one of his most recognisable, and copied, designs.

This year the architect, just turned 80, has further strengthened his 50 year collaboration with Cassina in a sign of continuity. Just like the Cab
family. Matured like a true icon, this range now extends to all areas of the home with the introduction of the Cab Lounge armchair and the Cab Night bed.

Cab Lounge: saddle leather made to measure, and live, like a tailored suit The Cab Lounge, spacious and inviting, has been skilfully upholstered in saddle leather, both internally and externally. The same concept developed for the Cab chair has been transferred to the armchair: the saddle leather dresses the steel skeleton of the frame like a bespoke suit to perfectly support the sinuous shape of the body in a relationship of structural and organic symbiosis. The upholstery is made up of 11 different pieces of saddle leather sewn together and closed with 4 zips.

The ergonomics of the Cab Lounge guarantee surprising comfort also thanks to the soft leather cushions attached to the interior of the armchair which make its form even softer.

Particular attention has been paid to detail, from the visible stitching to the elegant straps covered in saddle leather which fix the head cushion to the backrest. The simple 5 spoke swivel base accentuates the richness of the armchair’s body. Cab Lounge is available in a selection of five colours of saddle leather (black, brown, taupe, China red and blue), a selection of leathers for the cushion and headrest, for which the same five colours are
recommended, and three finishes for the base (matt black, matt grey/ beige, matt chestnut). The armchair is combined with a pouf in saddle leather with a tear-drop profile, suspended on a 4 spoke swivel base, in the same finishes as the Cab Lounge.
