Description

Just after the fall of the Wall, Berlin promotes an important consultation for the reconstruction of the city.

Bellini’s proposal focuses his interest on the reconstruction of a “city centre” between the two parts of the Spree by renovating the Museumsinsel with a vast system of cultural and scientific institutions: a sort of new floating Acropolis inserted between the Unter den Linden and the ancient medieval Berlin.

As the focal point of this renovation a large new circular building is proposed, characterised by triple colonnade at its base, facing out at the Altes Museum where city’s ancient castle lies.
