Description
Only some of the very early Autogrills, in Italy in the 1960s and 1970s, attempted to eschew a purely functional and commercial logic in favour of decidedlyarchitectural approaches.
After this initial phase, which has many points of interest, for a long time there was for the most part nothing but great banality around this topic.
At the request of Autogrill Bellini makes a provocative proposal that provides some character to these service buildings, nearly always too anonymous, which populate the landscape of our motorways.
The pure form of the cone is inserted onto the form of the square and the circle to create an eloquent “object”: the project unfortunately was not realised.
But the model for the project has been acquired for the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York.
